Birth of this Blog

So, I created this Blog on April 24, 2012.   At this point I have generated a document to outline strategies for hiking from the border to Scissor Crossing in the desert (78-miles to reach Highway 78, more or less.)  We would be happy to be able to make it that far (before summer and the desert heats to the point that it makes it prohibitive to go any further than the Lagunas or Cuyamaca area.)  It seems that the first leg, border to Lake Morena is going to be one of the most challenging sections because of the danger of parking a shuttle vehicle at the border and the sheer distance that the leg will require.  Oh, did I mention, we might have to carry our almost-4-year-old son Atticus on our backs.  By "we" I mean myself, Rich Williams, and my wife, Allie.  I turned 50 in January, and Allie says that doing stuff like this is just a symptom of a mid-life crises.  I prefer to think turning 50 is a good excuse to do dumb and crazy things.  Anyway, I will try to see if I can eventually post a link that takes you to the previously mentioned document with my current hiking strategy.
